The bunker face on the front right greenside bunker at 14 had been crumbling throughout 2017 and the decision was taken to reduce the bunker in size slightly and reconstruct the revetted face and remove the “sand splash” ridge all in the same process. We removed around 4 tonnes of sandy loam from the front ridge which had built up over time from years of “sand splash”. It will now give a much clearer view of the green and will now allow the surrounding turf to maintained with ease. The bunker will also have a much more links like natural shape which will gather errant shots and give golfers a better opportunity to hit the green after reducing the height of the face. The surrounding area has been re turfed and after being marked as GUR for a short period fresh sand has now been added ready for the 2018 season.
