In order to protect the course from excessive wear, a temporary “Local Rule” concerning the USE OF MATS will be in operation as of the 30th October 2017 .
Notices will be displayed in the on the First Tee, Club Website and Notice Boards when this temporary “Local Rule” is in force. The mats have been approved by the R&A and permit specific Local Rules for the protection of the course and these override the normal Rules during this period.
There will also be Top Quality teeing mats provided at each Par 3 hole to stop the deterioration of the teeing ground throughout the winter giving the turf the best possible chance to recover going into the 2108 season.
Rule 11 states that when starting a hole from an artificial tee mat the player must take his stance on, and play a ball from, the mat, Rule 11- 4b applies:
If a competitor, when starting a hole, plays a ball from outside the teeing ground, he incurs a penalty of two strokes and must then play a ball from within the teeing ground. If the competitor makes a stroke from the next teeing ground without first correcting his mistake or, in the case of the last hole of the round, leaves the putting green without first declaring his intention to correct his mistake, he is disqualified. The stroke from outside the teeing ground and any subsequent strokes by the competitor on the hole prior to his correction of the mistake do not count in his score.
The use of the Artificial Mats must be adhered to, during both regular and competition play and the abuse of this rule will result in disqualification or in an extreme case be asked to leave the course.⛳️👍
